NFL odds, lines, picks, spreads, bets, predictions for Week 3, 2023: Model high on Chiefs, Dolphins

Even though there are just two divisional games as part of the Week 3 NFL schedule, the slate isn’t short on rivalry matchups. At 1 p.m. ET, the Ravens are eight-point favorites over the Colts in the Week 3 NFL odds in a contest between two franchises that called Baltimore home. On Sunday night, the defining rivalry of the 1970s takes center stage as the Raiders host the Steelers. These two met in the playoffs five straight times during the 1970s, which remains an NFL record, and Pittsburgh is a 1-point favorite in the NFL spreads. The Cowboys are 12.5-point favorites over the Cardinals in the NFL betting lines, one of the biggest road favorites we’ll see all season. All of the Week 3 NFL lines are listed below, and SportsLine’s advanced computer model has all the NFL betting advice and predictions you need to make the best Week 3 NFL picks now.

The model, which simulates every NFL game 10,000 times, is up more than $7,000 for $100 players on top-rated NFL picks since its inception. The model enters Week 3 of the 2023 NFL season on an incredible 164-117 run on top-rated NFL picks that dates back to the 2017 season. It is also on a 18-9 roll on top-rated NFL picks since Week 7 of last season.

The model also ranked in the top 10 on NFLPickWatch four of the past six years on straight-up NFL picks and beat more than 94% of CBS Sports Football Pick’em players four times during that span. Anyone who has followed it is way up.

Now, it has turned its attention to the latest Week 3 NFL odds and locked in picks for every NFL matchup. Head here to see every pick.

Top Week 3 NFL predictions

One of the model’s strongest Week 3 NFL picks is that the Chiefs (-12.5) cover against the Bears in almost 60% of simulations. Kansas City’s offense is still rounding into form, but the defense has been elite. It just kept a Jaguars offense that was top-10 in scoring last year and put up 31 points in Week 1 out of the endzone in Week 2. Meanwhile, the 2023 NFL season must seem like a continuation of the 2022 campaign for the Bears. They rank 22nd in scoring after finishing 23rd last year and have allowed the second-most points after giving up the most in 2022.

The Bears haven’t scored more than 20 points in their last eight games, which makes it difficult to imagine how they can stay competitive with Kansas City. The model foresees a lopsided affair and has Patrick Mahomes throwing for twice as many yards as Justin Fields. Even if Chicago can move the ball on the ground, its drives will still come up short since Kansas City ranks in the top seven in third-down defense and redzone defense. SportsLine’s model has Kansas City (-12.5) covering with points to spare, with the Chiefs winning ATS in almost 60% of simulations. See which other teams to pick here.

Another one of its Week 3 NFL predictions: The Dolphins (-7) cover the spread at home versus the Broncos. This is one of the few games on the Week 3 NFL schedule in which a team that’s 2-0 against the spread (Miami) is facing a team that’s 0-2 ATS (Denver). The humidity of South Beach has also been a House of Horrors for a franchise that plays its games in the Mile High City, as the Dolphins are 8-1 all-time at home versus the Broncos.

Denver has gotten off to an 0-2 record both straight-up and against the spread despite opening with two home games, while the Dolphins are 2-0 despite starting with two road games. Miami is arguably the best offensive team early in the season, ranking first in yards and third in points. Tua Tagovailoa leads the NFL in passing yards and should be able to exploit a defense that just allowed 299 passing yards and two touchdowns to Washington’s Sam Howell. Miami (-7) is forecasted to cover well over 50% of the time, and the model also says the Under (47) hits in over 50% of simulations. See which other teams to pick here.
